New Zealand Open Championship venue to be decided - Saturday, 30 January 2010
The venue and date of the 2011 New Zealand Open Championship will be confirmed in the next few months, it was announced at The Hills, Queenstown today in a joint statement by New Zealand Golf and current Open promoters, Tuohy Associates.New Zealand Golf said it has much to consider with all agreements, including the current sanctioning partnership, at an end after this championship. Currently a number of parties, including The Hills, have registered their interest in hosting the New Zealand Open Championship in 2011 and beyond.“Before we can finalise the venue, we obviously have to work with our partners on the arrangements and date of the New Zealand Open,” said Richard Taylor, Chairman of the New Zealand Open sub-committee and a Director of New Zealand Golf.New Zealand Golf and Tuohy Associates recognised the success of the Championship in the past three years at The Hills.“Michael Hill and his organisation have made an enormous contribution to the Open and The Hills has been a superb venue for what has been three extremely successful New Zealand Open Championships.”Following the conclusion of the 2010 event, New Zealand Golf’s Open Committee in association with the current promoter and commercial Partner, TA Golf, will continue discussions with all parties, with a decision likely in the next few months.
